Altaria Deck
Edit1 variant · 19 matches · 3 decklists · 21.1% overall WR since Everyday Wonders
Although a Dragon-type, Altaria doesn't require two different types of Energy to work... at first glance. While its Dragon Arcana is effectively a attack usable in any deck, it only deals 40 damage. Give it two different types of Energy, however, and it suddenly hits for a whopping 100 damage for just 2 Energy on a Stage 1 Pokémon that only gives up a single point when Knocked Out.
Released in the set following the first Energy-ramping Baby Pokémon (Pichu and Magby, with Mantyke arriving in the same expansion), Altaria quickly took advantage of them to attack for 100 damage as early as turn 3. It also offers a lot of flexibility when choosing a partner. While it is usually played with a , or Pokémon to benefit from the Babies, you can also run a completely different Energy type and still reach maximum damage quickly. This lets you pair Altaria with almost any Pokémon worth 2 or 3 points. With Lisia able to search for any Baby Pokémon and Swablu, the deck consistently does what it's designed to do.
