Articuno ex is the most powerful Basic Pokémon in Genetic Apex, and a terrifying sight as a starting Pokémon. Its powerful attacks, combined with a lucky Misty, can end games early. Blizzard puts massive pressure on the opponent, even damaging their Bench. When paired with Cyrus and Sabrina, Blizzard’s Bench damage becomes even more threatening, forcing your opponent into difficult decisions. Ice Wing is nothing spectacular but the sequence with Blizzard deals 120HP, which is enough to take down most non-ex Pokémon. With 140 HP, Articuno ex can tank multiple hits, giving it more time to charge up and keep the pressure on.
These qualities make Articuno ex one of the most fearsome Pokémon in the metagame. Its potential to high roll with Misty can shut down decks before they have a chance to recover, regardless of type weaknesses.
