Grass has long searched for what made other types strong: a strong Basic Pokémon ex. The unreliable Celebi ex had its moments in the early Pocket era, but its Powerful Bloom attack was too inconsistent for an evolving metagame with faster pacing. Buzzwole ex might finally be the Basic Pokémon ex that Grass decks needed to break through.
It starts with a straightforward Punch attack that deals 30 damage for . Its second move, Big Beat, hits for 120 damage at the cost of . Combined, these attacks deal 150 damage over two turns, enough to KO nearly every Basic Pokémon ex that doesn’t get healed or boosted by an HP-enhancing tool. Big Beat, in particular, has damage only been seen before on Yanmega ex among all other types, and Buzzwole ex does it without needing to evolve.
