Crabominable ex belongs to the small group of Stage 1 Pokémon ex capable of attacking on curve when going first. Its only attack, Insatiable Striking, deals a modest 40 damage baseline, but jumps to a powerful 80 damage if used again the following turn (provided Crabominable ex hasn’t left the Active Spot). If not quickly gusted or dealt with, Crabominable ex matches the output of most Stage 1 Pokémon ex that require two Energy, while you've got room to attach Energy elsewhere. With a solid 160 HP and access to Irida’s healing effect, it's a tough Pokémon to take down.
Exeggutor ex has likely been the most metagame relevant Pokémon ex from Genetic Apex. Crabominable ex, which shares many of its traits, may be on track for a similar future.

- Its retreat cost is heavy. Once it's in the Active Spot, getting it out without a switch effect is hard, which limits your flexibility when you want to pivot to a better attacker later in the game, as you pretty much have to forfeit 2 points to transition into it.
- Its damage starts low, and the 80 damage boost is easily reset by any gust effect like Sabrina or Cyrus.
- Even when it’s rolling, 80 damage isn’t enough to threaten most Stage 2 Pokémon ex, which are becoming more common with the return of Rare Candy.
