Ever since the release of Rare Candy, Stage 2 Pokémon with one-Energy attacks have become much more appealing and now hold a stronger place in the metagame: think Garchomp ex, Rampardos, and Charizard ex. Crobat ex is one of them, and possibly one of the best. Its sole attack, Venomous Splash, costs only and deals 70 damage, effectively 80 thanks to its added Poison effect on the opponent’s Active Pokémon. It's enough to one-shot nearly all evolving Basics (like Eevee or Type: Null), this only from turn 3 onward. Even later in the game, it still threatens bulkier targets: if the Poisoned Pokémon doesn’t retreat, that’s a total of 170 damage over two turns, enough to KO most Pokémon in the format. With a decent 170 HP and a cheap retreat cost, Crobat ex is a durable presence on the field, easy to power up and switch out when needed.
