Glaceon ex is the Ice evolution of Eevee, introduced in Generation 4, and logically featured in the A2 series (Triumphant Light - A2a) alongside Leafeon ex. Just like its counterpart, it has both an attack and an ability. Freezing Wind deals 90 damage for , a solid rate that puts it slightly above Articuno ex.

Its most interesting feature is the Snowy Terrain ability. Reminiscent of the Hail effect from the video games, Snowy Terrain deals 10 damage to the opponent's Active Pokémon between each Pokémon checkup, as long as Glaceon ex is in the Active Spot. This means damage is applied both at the end of your turn and your opponent's, effectively pushing Freezing Wind’s output to 100 damage per turn, and even more if the Defending Pokémon doesn’t retreat.

Glaceon ex’s biggest drawback is the competition from another Stage 1 Pokémon: Starmie ex. Even though it has 10 less HP, Starmie ex deals the same damage with Hydro Splash as Glaceon ex does with Freezing Wind, but for one less Energy. It also benefits from a 0 Retreat Cost, which enables better retreat plays and Vaporeon plays.

Because the two are so similar in what they offer, and Starmie ex can attack one turn earlier, it pretty much relegates Glaceon ex to a fun deck rather than a fully competitive archetype.
