The Puppy Pile deck runs the cutest canines in Pokémon to unleash a big blow with the Puppy Pile attack, which deals 20 damage times the number of Pokémon in your hand and in play with Puppy Pile for . The strategy is to run a giant pack of these cute puppies (Growlithe, Fidough, Rockruff, Yamper, Lillipup...) to deal massive damage for just 2 Energy, with no need to evolve, while only giving up a single point when Knocked Out. Puppy-Loving Girl supports this strategy by adding up to four possible puppies from the top of your deck to your hand.

While most of these Pokémon follow the classic pattern of 60 HP and 1 Retreat Cost, two stand out. Growlithe has 20 more HP but a much higher Retreat Cost of However, it is eligible for Flame Patch, which is why most Puppy Pile decks run only  Energy, as the deck lacks other forms of Energy acceleration. Fidough, although very frail, has no Retreat Cost, making it much easier to switch. The other puppies can be played in various quantities based on the prevalence of their weakness in the metagame, although more often than not they're maximised altogether to pump the damage of Puppy Pile.
