Energy acceleration is a critical path to victory in any form of Pokémon TCG. Instead of being limited to one Energy attachment per turn, you can “gain” multiple turns’ worth of attachments in a single effect. Ho-Oh ex currently offers the strongest Energy acceleration in Pokémon TCG Pocket: its Phoenix Turbo attack attaches 3 Energy to one of your Benched Basic Pokémon, an unmatched rate. Phoenix Turbo needs only Energy, allowing Ho-Oh ex to fit into any deck as an Energy provider, holding the front line with its bulky 150HP while powering up the back row to dangerous levels. This is enough to fully charge strong attacks in a single turn, such as Arceus ex’s Ultimate Force or even another Ho-Oh ex’s Phoenix Turbo, enabling retreat plays that keep both alive while you keep on pumping the rest of the team.

- Phoenix Turbo can only attach Energy to Basic Benched Pokémon, limiting Ho-Oh ex to full-Basic builds. As most of these are all-ex decks, and in combination with its weakness, it makes it an easy target for Pom Pom Oricorio.
