Mega Ampharos ex is not only the first Stage 2 Pokémon ex, but also the first Mega Pokémon ex. For this uncharted territory, let's see what we get: Mega Ampharos ex comes with 210HP and a Lightning Lancer attack that can deal up to 160 damage: 100 guaranteed to the opponent’s Active Pokémon, plus 20 damage times 3 distributed randomly across the opponent’s Bench. If there’s only one Benched Pokémon, that’s 60 damage focused on a single target—enough to one-shot most Basics with an evolution. Even when the damage spreads, it sets up powerful Cyrus plays. Combined with the Lightning type’s strong Energy acceleration engine and Rare Candy to get to the field as early as turn 3, Mega Ampharos ex can quickly spell doom for its opponent.

- Mega Ampharos ex depends heavily on Rare Candy to evolve and loses the game immediately if it’s taken down.

- Lightning Lancer’s 100 base damage fails to two-shot other Mega Pokémon ex, which is a serious drawback in the Mega Rising metagame.

- It's easy to play around the splash damage by either keeping the Bench empty or filling it to dilute the damage spread.
