Mega Venusaur ex Deck

1 variant · 15 matches · 3 decklists · 26.7% overall WR since Everyday Wonders

Mega Venusaur ex follows in the footsteps of the original Venusaur ex, boasting the highest HP of any Pokémon in the game at the time of its release. Its gargantuan build puts it out of reach of almost every one-shot attack, with the notable exception of Mega Charizard Y ex’s Crimson Dive. Natural support such as Leaf Cape and Erika, alongside additional options like Lillie, pushes it even further from harm and turns it into an absolute unit that is extremely hard to remove once established.

Its only attack, Critical Bloom, heavily punishes opposing Pokémon. Its 120 base damage is increased by the Poison status, and it becomes even more threatening by also inflicting Asleep. If not cured, the Defending Pokémon has only a 50% chance of successfully attacking or retreating on its next turn. As a result, Mega Venusaur ex stands as one of the most usable Mega Pokémon ex from the new pack, and a deadly threat once it is fully set up.

- Mega Venusaur ex is expensive. Critical Bloom requires four Energy, and so does its Retreat cost. By the time it hits the field, it may have already taken substantial damage. If you need to promote a healthier Pokémon to avoid a knockout that would result in a loss, you must sacrifice a massive amount of momentum.

- Critical Bloom effectively deals 130 damage when accounting for the initial Poison damage, which falls short of the crucial 140-damage threshold needed to one-shot most Pokémon ex.
