Meowscarada is the latest addition to the pool of "anti-EX" cards. Its lone attack, Fighting Claws, deals a modest base 60 damage for , but jumps to a massive 130 damage against Pokémon ex. This output rivals the strongest Pokémon ex on the field, while only giving up a single point when knocked out.

A key concept in Pokémon TCG Pocket is to map your game plan in a way that makes it as hard as possible for your opponent to take their three points. Meowscarada’s absurd efficiency against Pokémon ex completely warps that map in your favor: ideally, you move from your first Meowscarada to a second, then close the game with a bulkier, stronger Pokémon ex you've been building on the bench.

- Meowscarada is a strong meta pick against Pokémon ex, but falls off hard against non-ex Pokémon. It needs to be paired with another strong attacker, something that traditionally lacks.

- Even against Pokémon ex, Fighting Claws hits just below the key 140 HP threshold. While it still scores clean knockouts on Pokémon weak to , like Weavile ex and Darkrai ex, it needs extra help like Red or Rocky Helmet to deal with major threats such as Arceus ex, Giratina ex, and Dialga ex. To make things worse, Meowscarada's pre-evolutions can't deal damage effectively when going first, making it hard to set up chip damage before the big swing.

- With only 140 HP, Meowscarada is one of the frailest final evolutions among starter Pokémon. That number is a common damage threshold in the current meta, so without a Giant Cape, Meowscarada risks being knocked out before it gets a chance to strike.
