Miraidon ex Deck

Coming from the future, Miraidon ex shares its Legendary Drive Ability with its Scarlet counterpart, Koraidon ex. When played from the hand to the Bench, it can immediately switch to the Active Spot and move all Energy in play to itself. The free switch alone is an amazing feature: it can retreat a damaged Active Pokémon or one with a prohibitively high Retreat Cost without using a Supporter or discarding Energy to retreat. Although removing Energy from all your other Pokémon can hurt your setup, it allows Miraidon ex to use its 3-Energy Hadron Ray attack as soon as it hits the field mid-game. Technically playable in every deck thanks to its all  cost, it shines in a pure  deck: its modest 20 base damage increases by 20 more for each Energy attached to Miraidon ex. That gives it a baseline 80 damage output that can become even stronger in the late game.

Future is not just a cosmetic label. It makes Miraidon ex eligible for all Future support cards, the most important being Professor Turo, which can shuffle Miraidon back into the deck to, in no particular order, fix a bad Miraidon ex lead, deny a Knock Out on a damaged Miraidon ex, or provide a free retreat.

A mid-game pivot or a late-game finisher with strong Future interactions, the looming threat of a Miraidon ex in hand at any time puts immense pressure on the opponent, which makes it stand as of the strongest Pokémon in Paradox Drive.

Magneton from Genetic Apex is the natural partner for Miraidon ex, as its Volt Charge Ability powers it up with  Energy. It scales very quickly, with each turn potentially adding 40 damage to Hadron Ray. Magneton can stay on the Bench to build up a massive Miraidon ex, or evolve into Magnezone and act as a frontrunner itself. Pom-Pom Oricorio is also a perfect stalling tool while both Pokémon prepare to become fully operational.

- By pulling all Energy from the field onto itself, Miraidon ex heavily compromises your following turns by leaving no Energy on your other Pokémon. If it gets Knocked Out the turn after entering the field, it leaves very few opportunities to recover.

- Hadron Ray is a rather weak attack on its own and requires a large amount of resources to be used efficiently.

- While its 140 HP is standard for a Basic Pokémon ex, the  support introduced in the previous expansion makes it more vulnerable to potential one-hit Knock Outs.
