Following Pikachu ex’s dominant presence in the early TCG Pocket metagame, Pachirisu ex quickly gained attention as another Basic Pokémon ex that hits well above the usual damage threshold for just 2 Energy. Its Sparking Gadget attack deals a solid 80 damage when a Tool is attached, strong enough to knock out most Active Pokémon on the draw.
With 120 HP, a retreat cost and no extra frills, Pachirisu ex stands as the second representative of this lineage of aggressive, early-game rodents.

- Sparking Gadget is effective against a field full of regular Basic Pokémon, but it struggles against the metagame’s chunkier threats—Druddigon and high-HP Pokémon ex—that Pachirisu ex, like Pikachu ex, fails to one-shot and trades unfavorably against.
- Despite running at least four Tools (Lum Berry provided little to no value), there’s always a chance of not drawing one when Pachirisu ex is ready to attack, reducing Sparking Gadget to a weak 40 damage.
- Pachirisu ex's bulk is frail for a 2-point Pokémon. It usually needs to retreat after taking a hit—or go down in a last ditch effort.
