It took a long time, but the wait was worth it. The final Alolan starter evolution to receive an ex version after Incineroar ex and Decidueye ex, Primarina ex turns out to be just as strong as its peers. Featuring the classic Hydro Pump attack, its single Energy requirement with a base 40 damage jumps to 80 damage with just one more Energy: a very solid rate, even for a Stage 2 Pokémon ex. Most importantly, this means that after an early Rare Candy, Primarina ex is immediately usable on curve, whether you went first or second, and it scales well from there.
The natural follow-up is its second attack, Sparkling Aria, which costs and deals a respectable 100 damage, while also healing 20 damage from Primarina ex.
